Viewing Properties in Florida
Lighthouse recommends that our clients take a three-day/four-night
inspection trip to view properties in Florida.
For a cost of £199 per person, we will organise flights,
transfers to and from the airport in Florida and accommodation
in a rental property similar to the type you are interested in
buying. A food and drink welcome pack will be waiting for you
upon your arrival.
During your inspection trip you will see as many resale and off-plan
properties as possible and you will have an opportunity to return
to see any properties you were particularly interested in. Your
evenings are free and there is often a day spare to spend as you
wish, visiting one of the many theme parks or other attractions.
Most people fall in love with a property the first time they
are on an inspection trip and make a decision to buy while there.
We will help you to open a bank account and do the first part
of the administration required to buy the property. There will
be a financial advisor available during your visit if you wish
to discuss financing the purchase of the property with a mortgage.
Alternatively, if you are already planning a holiday in Florida,
we can organise the viewing of properties during your stay. This
is not normally done when viewing properties in Europe but is
quite common in the US, given the distances involved in getting
there. You will, however, need to be prepared to spend a serious
proportion of your holiday making the property visits and you
would need to make your own flight and accommodation arrangements.
Do as much research as possible before you go so that you have
as firm an idea as possible, when you arrive, of what sort of
property and location you are looking for.
You might want to avoid the summer months for house-hunting, when
the sun and holidaying crowds are at their most intense. Visiting
out of season will also allow you a view of the area in quieter
times of year, so you can see what the weather is like, how many
tourists are around (if you are thinking of renting out your property)
and how much of a buzz there is.
As Florida has warm sun and blue skies most of the year round,
though, you won’t get the kind of closed-down resort feeling
you can get in some parts of Europe out of season.
