Florida is the leisure capital of America, a destination that
offers year-round sunshine and warmth, enormous white, sandy beaches,
wetlands, palm forests, theme parks and 1,400 golf courses.

The vast majority of British buyers head for Orlando in Central
Florida, given its world famous theme parks and excellent rental
potential for properties in the area.
Other popular areas are the north and west of Florida, in particular
Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers and Sarasota. A smaller number buy
in Miami. Broadly, the state of Florida can be divided into the
following, diverse regions in terms of where foreign investors
tend to buy: Central Florida (which includes Orlando); the North
East (including Daytona Beach, still within easy reach of Orlando);
the Gulf Coast in the west (including Sarasota); Miami and the
South-East (known as the Gold Coast, including Palm Beach, Fort
Lauderdale and Boca Raton); the Everglades, and the Florida Keys.
The top part of Florida which runs along the Gulf of Mexico and
borders Georgia and Alabama is known as the panhandle (the long,
thin bit snaking down the sea is the frying pan).
