Finding a Lawyer in Portugal
It is essential that you find a good, English-speaking, independent
lawyer who will have you best interests in mind. Don’t think
– as, inexplicably, some people do when buying abroad -
that using a lawyer is an unnecessary expense.
It is vital that you have a lawyer qualified in Portuguese law
to guide you through the potential pitfalls and to check the property
and title deeds are legitimate (this can particularly be an issue
in the case of rural properties).
Your Lighthouse agent can recommend good, independent lawyers
in the area.
