Viewing Properties in Portugal
If you are lucky enough to have plenty of time to spare, then
flying down to the Algarve and touring the coast from one end
to the other is the most comprehensive way of ruling out what
you don’t want and pinpointing what you do.
But more likely your time will be limited and you will need to
condense your trip to a long weekend of viewings, so the less
you need to arrange yourself during your time in Portugal, the
better.
So do as much research in advance as possible. Have a clear notion
– as far as possible - of where you want to look and what
kind of property interests you. Then when you speak to a Lighthouse-affiliated
estate agent, they can draw up a shortlist of the properties that
best suit your criteria. When viewing properties with an agent,
use the chance to ask plenty of questions and take notes on each
property you see. Don’t go home with unanswered questions
in your mind.
The agent will be able to tell you what the area is really like,
where the nearest beaches/restaurants/shops are, and how to go
about buying if you see a property that ticks all the right boxes.
